Quick answer

A polyaspartic garage floor is a fast-curing, UV-stable coating system. We diamond-grind the concrete, repair cracks, broadcast decorative Torginol® flake and seal it with a clear polyaspartic topcoat. Ozark Ridge installs it across North Central Arkansas, usually in one day, with free on-site estimates and moisture testing.

What is a polyaspartic garage floor?

Polyaspartic is a fast-curing, UV-stable coating related to polyurea. In a garage floor system it bonds to diamond-ground concrete, locks in a full broadcast of decorative flake and finishes with a clear, hard topcoat. The result is a seamless floor that looks like stone, cleans with a mop and protects the slab underneath.

We prefer polyaspartic over traditional epoxy for most garages because it cures in hours instead of days, stays clear in sunlight, and flexes with the temperature swings Arkansas garages see every year. See the full polyaspartic vs. epoxy comparison.

Our floor system, layer by layer

The coating is only as good as the prep under it. Every Ozark Ridge floor follows the same steps.

  1. Diamond grindingWe grind the slab to open the pores of the concrete and remove sealers, paint and surface stains, so the coating bonds mechanically.
  2. Crack, pit and spall repairCracks are filled and damaged areas are rebuilt so the finished floor is smooth and solid.
  3. Moisture vapor barrier When neededIf our moisture test shows vapor coming up through the slab, a barrier base coat goes down first. How moisture barriers work.
  4. Base coat and full flake broadcastA pigmented base coat goes down and is broadcast to refusal with Torginol® flake, so no base coat shows through.
  5. Clear polyaspartic topcoatA UV-stable, chemical-resistant clear coat seals the flake. Choose high gloss or satin, with optional slip-resistant texture.

Why polyaspartic works in Arkansas garages

Summer heat and hot tires

A car that just came off a hot highway can soften cheap coatings, and the tire pulls the film right off the floor. Polyaspartic over a properly ground slab is highly resistant to that hot-tire pickup.

Humidity and damp slabs

Humid summers and homes near lakes and rivers often mean moisture moving up through the concrete. We test every slab and add a vapor barrier when it's needed, because moisture is the most common reason garage coatings peel.

Freeze-thaw winters and road salt

Snowmelt and brine drip off your car all winter and soak into bare concrete, where freeze-thaw cycles break down the surface. A sealed floor keeps water and salt on top, where they wipe away.

Sunlight through an open door

Most epoxies amber in sunlight. Polyaspartic topcoats are UV-stable, so the floor near your door stays the same color as the rest of the garage.

How installation day works

  1. Morning: we protect your walls and door, then grind and vacuum the slab.
  2. Repairs: cracks and pits are filled and leveled.
  3. Coating: the base coat goes down and flake is broadcast across the whole floor, then the excess is scraped and vacuumed.
  4. Topcoat: the clear polyaspartic topcoat seals everything.
  5. Cure: you can usually walk on the floor within a few hours and park on it in about a day. We'll give you exact times before we leave.

What does it cost?

Price depends on your garage size, whether you need a moisture vapor barrier, the condition of the concrete and extras like stem walls or steps. Our floor cost estimator gives you an instant range, and we confirm your exact price in writing after a free on-site measure and moisture test.

Polyaspartic garage floor FAQ

How long does a polyaspartic garage floor last?

With proper prep, a professionally installed polyaspartic flake floor is built to last for many years of daily parking. Prep is what makes the difference: we diamond-grind the slab, repair cracks and test for moisture before any coating goes down.

How soon can I walk and park on my new floor?

You can usually walk on the floor within a few hours and park on it in about a day. We give you exact cure times for your floor before we leave.

Is a flake floor slippery?

A full flake broadcast gives the floor texture, so it has more grip than smooth paint or bare sealed concrete. For areas that get wet, we can add a slip-resistant additive to the clear topcoat.

Will my cracks show through the new floor?

We fill and repair cracks during prep, and the flake broadcast hides most of the repair. Cracks caused by a slab that is still moving can reappear over time, and we'll tell you at the estimate if we see signs of that.

Do I need a moisture vapor barrier?

Not every garage does. We test the slab at your free estimate. If moisture is coming up through the concrete, a vapor barrier base coat protects the bond of your new floor.

Can you coat over old epoxy or garage paint?

Old coatings usually have to come off first so the new floor bonds to clean concrete. We grind them away during prep and include it in your estimate when it's needed.
